Recycling refers to the reduction of toxic chemicals that go deep into the soil as well as pollutes the air as a result of waste being disposed inappropriately. The process of recycling has three steps which are as follows: gathering and sorting, manufacturing then selling of recycled products (Cresswell, 2004).
Recycling has many advantages and some of the advantages are as follows, It aids in conserving limited resources since the products that have been recycled can be used for another purpose that is helpful to very many people. For example a study carried out showed that in America so much aluminum was recycled to the extent that it helped in conserving more than 16 million drums of oil.Another advantage of recycling is that it leads to increased financial incomesince there will be reduced cost of disposing waste.
The only cost that may be incurred is the cost of collection as well as the cost of reprocessing.Recycling also helps in saving energy especially in large scale since energy costs are reduced. For example one would incur more energy while manufacturing a brand new than when recycling twenty aluminum cans. Another advantage of recycling is that it helps in building the community since in the modern world people are really concerned about conserving the environment (Vazquez, and RILEM Technical Committee, 2013).
People as well as organizations are working togetherin developing recycling initiatives and free recycle organizations so to promote recycling. Creating of jobs is another advantage of recycling since labor is needed in the three stages of recycling and hence many people are able to acquire jobs through recycling. Recycling is earth friendly since it reduces toxic emissions which may come from solid wastes and hence a safe environment for people to live
